Notice of General Membership Meeting
Dear LJBA Coaches and Parents:
LJBA has been around since 1944. This was our 71st year of baseball!
For the 2015 season, Lakewood Junior Baseball fielded 18 teams, with 211 players ranging from 4 to 16 years old. LJBA had 6 Teams in the 8 and under program, 10 Teams in the 8 to 14 Kid Pitch program, and 2 teams in the Level III High school program. Including all teams, LJBA played 216 league games this season.
This was our second year under Rocky Mountain Junior Baseball League (RMJBL), and it included an alliance with Altitude Baseball (formerly JCJBL) that brought in approximately 115 teams from Alameda, Brighton, Broomfield, Englewood, Golden, Boulder and North Thornton.
Umpire coverage continues to be a big issue, not only in baseball but all youth sports. RMJBL is working this off season to improve scheduling, team placement for level of play, and umpire coverage and training.
Even though the baseball season is over there are many items that need our attention to prepare for next season. A few of these items are: tryouts, bingo, recruiting, uniforms (hats/jerseys), bingo, fees for 2016 and bingo.
LJBA requests all coaches attend the August 4thmeeting to plan for the tryouts (tentatively scheduled for October 18th) and to make nominations for the board positions. Location and time for the tryouts have not yet been confirmed.
Each September LJBA elects the new board for the upcoming season. This year’s meeting, referred to as a General Membership Meeting, is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1st at 7pm (location to be determined). We encourage everyone to attend, coaches and parents, to provide feedback on the season and input for next season. LJBA needs new board volunteers to help run the association. The board meets once a month, usually the first Tuesday to conduct business.
Each board member is elected to a one year term. The board is made up of the following positions:
Please consider volunteering for the board, or for bingo (as a manager, caller or cashier), in order to help ensure the continued success of Lakewood Junior Baseball.
